About Rachel Marshall
PACFA Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist

How I Work

My approach to therapy is grounded in deep listening, curiosity, and respect. I offer a space that is relational, trauma-informed, and attuned — a place where you can bring all parts of yourself without judgment.

Rather than aiming to fix or diagnose, I support you to come into relationship with your inner world. Together, we explore patterns, emotions, and experiences to find clarity, connection, and meaning.

Therapy is a collaborative process. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, relationships, or early life challenges, we move at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

I work with individuals who long to be more connected — to themselves and to others — yet often find themselves feeling unseen, overwhelmed, or stuck in old patterns. Many of my clients are deep thinkers, sensitive souls, or adult children who carry emotional wounds from early family dynamics. I also love supporting couples who want to grow stronger together and create lasting, loving partnerships.

Therapeutic Orientation

I draw from a range of evidence-based and depth-oriented approaches, including:

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Attachment-based therapy

  • Somatic practices

  • Parts work (Internal Family Systems)

  • Jungian and archetypal psychology

  • Mindfulness and body awareness

This integrative style allows us to work in a way that honours your individual needs and ways of processing. I believe the body carries its own wisdom — stories that may not always be verbal or conscious.

Who I Work With

I work with adults of all backgrounds and identities who are seeking greater self-understanding and emotional resilience. This may include:

  • Feeling anxious, stuck or overwhelmed

  • Navigating relationship or attachment challenges

  • Living with high sensitivity or deep emotional awareness

  • Exploring unconscious patterns, dreams, or inner growth

If you're curious about therapy but unsure where to start, that’s okay. You’re welcome just as you are.

Training & Credentials

  • Bachelor of Counselling & Psychotherapy (IKON)

  • PACFA Registered Certified Practicing Member

  • Experience in long-term therapy, community mental health, and integrative frameworks

  • Regular clinical supervision to support safe, ethical practice

It’s a privilege to do this work. I deeply respect the courage it takes to begin therapy — and the tenderness of being met in that first step.

Acknowledgement of Country

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live and work, the Wurundjeri, Bunurong and Boon Wurrung people, and pay my respects to their Elders, past, present. I also acknowledge the harm caused by my ancestors who arrived uninvited from England and Scotland, contributing to the colonisation and dispossession of the sacred lands of the Aboriginal peoples.

As a person living on this land, and as a therapist, I am committed to decolonising myself and supporting healing. I honour the ongoing strength of Indigenous peoples and pledge to continue learning and acting towards a future that respects their sovereignty and wellbeing.

I offer sessions online and in person, in Thornbury and in the Dandenong Ranges
